The Colegio de Sta. Rosa-Makati
(CSR-Makati) community celebrated a momentous occasion on August 23, 2024, as
they honored the Feast Day of St. Rose of Lima, their patroness, with the rare
blessing of her sacred relic. The event was attended by the entire CSR-Makati
family, including students, parents, alumnae, administration, faculty, and
staff, marking a day of deep spiritual reflection and community solidarity.
St. Rose of Lima's life was devoted to prayer, fasting, and helping those in need. Born in 1586 in Lima, Peru, she faced societal challenges but remained steadfast in her commitment to Christ. Known for her mystical experiences, she often dedicated her days to serving the poor and caring for the sick, exemplifying the spirit of selflessness. Her legacy is particularly relevant today, as we navigate a world rife with hardship and inequality. As we commemorate this special day, we are called to emulate her virtues and engage in acts of charity and kindness. St. Rose teaches us that holiness can be found in everyday life, urging all of us to cultivate love and service in our communities.
In the vibrant afternoon light of Guadalupe Viejo, Makati, the spirit of service embodied by St. Rose of Lima was manifested in an inspiring outreach program for senior citizens. This initiative, lovingly sponsored by CSR-Makati alumna Ms. Anna Quiambao from Batch 2001, served as a beautiful reminder of the power of community and the importance of giving back. The CSR-Makati family united in a heartfelt effort to uplift those in need, showcasing the core values of compassion and charity that lie at the heart of the school's mission. As part of this meaningful event, the alumni from Batch ’95 generously sponsored refreshments for the senior citizens, ensuring that the afternoon was not only about service but also about connection and camaraderie. The simple act of sharing snacks created an atmosphere of joy, warmth, and community spirit, further highlighting the essence of the gathering. The Feast Day of St. Rose of Lima at Colegio de Sta. Rosa-Makati transcended a mere celebration of faith; it was a vibrant reaffirmation of the community’s dedication to her legacy. The presence of St. Rose's relic added a layer of profound significance to the day's events, inspiring attendees to reflect on the values they uphold. For members of the CSR-Makati family, the experience resonated deeply, serving as a reminder of their roles as servants to one another and to the broader community. As the day came to a close, participants left with hearts full of gratitude, carrying forward the lessons of St. Rose: the importance of charity, compassion, and a commitment to making a difference. This outreach program was not just an event; it was a call to action for all to embody the spirit of service in their daily lives, ensuring that the values of St. Rose of Lima live on in every act of kindness. Through initiatives like this, the CSR-Makati community continues to weave the threads of connection, empathy, and support, creating a tapestry of hope that enriches the lives of many, especially those who are often overlooked.
