The Colegio de Sta. Rosa-Makati
(CSR-Makati) community celebrated a momentous occasion on August 23, 2024, as
they honored the Feast Day of St. Rose of Lima, their patroness, with the rare
blessing of her sacred relic. The event was attended by the entire CSR-Makati
family, including students, parents, alumnae, administration, faculty, and
staff, marking a day of deep spiritual reflection and community solidarity.
St. Rose of Lima's life was devoted to prayer, fasting, and helping those in need. Born in 1586 in Lima, Peru, she faced societal challenges but remained steadfast in her commitment to Christ. Known for her mystical experiences, she often dedicated her days to serving the poor and caring for the sick, exemplifying the spirit of selflessness.Her legacy is particularly relevant today, as we navigate a world rife with hardship and inequality. As we commemorate this special day, we are called to emulate her virtues and engage in acts of charity and kindness. St. Rose teaches us that holiness can be found in everyday life, urging all of us to cultivate love and service in our communities.

City, August 23, 2024 – The Colegio
de Sta. Rosa-Makati (CSR-Makati) community celebrated a momentous occasion on
August 23, 2024, as they honored the Feast Day of St. Rose of Lima, their
patroness, with the rare blessing of her sacred relic. The event was attended
by the entire CSR-Makati family, including students, parents, alumnae,
administration, faculty, and staff, marking a day of deep spiritual reflection
and community solidarity.
The celebration commenced with a solemn
procession of the image of St. Rose of Lima, a tradition that symbolizes the
deep reverence and devotion the school community holds for their patroness.
Following the procession was the Rite of Reception, during which the relic of
St. Rose was ceremoniously welcomed into the school. This sacred moment was a
highlight of the event, offering the community an opportunity to connect more
intimately with the saint's enduring legacy.
A Holy Mass, presided over by Fr. Gideon
Lagrimas, OAR, was then celebrated, bringing together the CSR-Makati community
in prayer and thanksgiving. The Mass was followed by the veneration of the
relic, where students, faculty, and visitors had the rare opportunity to pay
their respects and seek the intercession of St. Rose. The Rite of Farewell
concluded this spiritual part of the day, as the relic was respectfully
escorted from the premises, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
The CSR-Makati Family expressed their
deepest gratitude to the Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation, Inc., especially
Ambassador Philippe J. Lhuillier, Chairman of the PJLI Group of Companies and
Philippine Ambassador to Spain, for allowing the visit of the relic of St. Rose
of Lima to Colegio de Sta. Rosa-Makati, particularly on her feast day. Special
thanks were also extended to Dr. Elyxzur C. Ramos, President of the University
of Makati, and Mr. Jonathan Batangan, Executive Director of Cebuana Lhuillier
Foundation, for facilitating the expedited process and making this visit
possible in such a short time. The entire CSR-Makati Family was commended for
their collaborative efforts in preparing for this significant, memorable, and
solemn celebration.
The day’s celebrations continued with a
program dedicated to St. Rose of Lima, featuring performances and reflections
that highlighted her life, virtues, and the enduring impact of her example on
the CSR-Makati community. The event was also an opportunity to reflect on the
school’s current theme, "Unfolding Excellence: Making Roseῆan Education Future Proof," which underscores CSR-Makati’s
commitment to preparing its students for the challenges of tomorrow while
staying rooted in the timeless values exemplified by St. Rose.
In the afternoon, the spirit of service
that St. Rose exemplified was brought to life through an outreach program for
the senior citizens of Guadalupe Viejo, Makati. This initiative, generously
sponsored by CSR-Makati alumna Ms. Anna Quiambao, was a heartfelt effort by the
CSR-Makati community to give back to those in need, reflecting the values of
compassion and charity that are central to the school’s mission.
